Our dear beloved Marisa left us around noon, on Friday 04 August 2023. She was only 49. The only comforting thought is that she was surrounded by her family and friends and gradually drifted away.
It all happened very suddenly. Marisa had not been well for a few weeks and having gone into hospital 10 days earlier, she deteriorated rapidly and finally succumbed to cancer.
We are all in total shock and totally devastated at the sudden loss of a wonderful human being, a trusted and beloved colleague and friend, and someone who has been such an important and integral part of our life at Sovereign for nearly 20 years.
Her total dedication to her work was apparent even until the day before she passed, when she was messaging us from hospital to tell us about unfinished quotations and what she had left undone when she went to hospital.
I communicated with her on the morning of her passing and told her how much we missed her at work and that it wasn’t the same without her. Her reply was “trust me, I’d rather be at work”.
We will miss Marisa on so many levels. Her journey with us may have been cut short all but too soon, but the legacy she leaves behind is immense and will continue to live through all the partnerships, programmes and tours she helped create and nurture over the years.
We will always cherish the moments and memories she gifted us with, and while she is gone from our sight, she will forever remain in our hearts.
